Three Pigs

Hurrah for illustration work! I got to do a design for a childrens' Theatre show, which included the illustration. It's been a while since I've gotten to draw my own imagery. It was classic material, a story everybody knows, so it was very much a 'do what you want' job. I love the wolf in this tale, I think he gets a bad break. :)
This job included newspaper ads, a colouring competition, flyer and poster designs. It also served to remind me once again how annoying logo placements are, they aren't shown here, but if you have one logo not in the same box format as all the others it really does look odd. I got to work with a great client recently starting up a parent company, with a theatre company branching off the main company. It was an enjoyable project particularly because theatre is something I'm quite involved in, on and off stage. The theatrical community is full of colourful characters who get to let loose and show off their talents, which are often different from their mild-mannered every day personalities.

In my web exploration I have found THE funniest blog site ever! I found it through a friend and then spent the next few days reading all the old posts and rolling around on the floor. My partner came to see why there were random peals of loud laughter coming from my work room. It's well worth a look. I guarantee you'll get a smile.

It's interesting to find that artists and painters, who are so aware of aesthetics, because of their low income often have web sites that don't do any favors for them. In many cases just the most basic of information is represented, with no design consideration and confusing navigation.
I had the pleasure of updating a figurative painter's site, so that it was more flattering to her work and more modern. Have a look Here.

While I studied at the Wanganui School of Design it was renowned for it's skilled tutors, thorough teaching and it had a reputation for sending out innovative and capable designers into the workforce. I'm sad to say that UCOL has almost fully taken over the school and since I left six capable tutors were let go. I hope that this doesn't affect the education and reputation of the school...
ANYway.. I thought I'd post some images of my final project.
I designed and illustrated the first chapter of a Graphic Novel, and created a website to display it as the comic was originally a webcomic. The title is 'Wraith's Keeper' and you can check it out Here. The research paper that went along with it was 'Manipulating the Subconscious with Typography' which I found immensely useful.
